Introduction

As a preferred supplier for Roche Basel in , we are looking for an individual as

Scientist in Neuroimmunology

(contract for 1 year, with possible extension). The earliest start date is within one month.

Description of the mission

  • Investigate, develop and implement new cell functional assays using human iPSC-derived/primary microglia as well as rodent microglia to test and compare efficacy of small molecules
  • Develop, execute and analyze transcriptomic and proteomic readouts from cells and pre-clinical models to characterize small molecule compounds
  • Leverage a combination of biochemical approaches to investigate cellular pharmacology
  • Develop, execute and analyze ex vivo slice assays and in vivo models to assess the target biology and test compounds
  • Establish SOPs, adapt new protocols from literature and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Working effectively with internal collaborators across Roche to advance the project
  • Present data to the project team and at section and departmental meetings

Required profile

  • Master's degree or PhD in (neuro)-immunology, cell/molecular biology or biochemistry
  • Expertise working with primary rodent glial cultures, as well as iPSC derived model systems
  • Skillset in developing robust and reproducible cell functional assays
  • Broad hands-on experience with various gene expression, immunoassay, and molecular profiling approaches applied to cells and brain tissues (human and rodents)
  • Certification for performing in vivo animal experiments (eg. LTK1) required. Not most critical. Expertise in in vivo animal dosing, perfusion, tissue collection and preparation for biochemical and immunoassays is an advantage.
  • Ability to independently design, execute, and analyze experiments
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer-based data management and record-keeping skills; a background in basic biostatistical data analysis is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills to report your results to the team; good command of the English language is a must (speaking and writing)
  • You must like an independent working style and troubleshooting in a multi-departmental and international pharma research environment

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience in drug discovery R&D in neuroscience is an advantage
  • Prior experience in cellular pharmacology is an advantage
